PureMatch Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 October 2026
This document is in English. If you read PureMatch in another language, the English text is the version that applies.
This policy explains what PureMatch collects, why, and what control you have. It applies to the PureMatch app and related services.
What we collect
What you give us. Your email address and password, your first name, date of birth, gender, who you want to meet, the age range and distance you want to meet them in, photographs, and the profile details you choose to fill in: height, bio, star sign, personality type, interests, lifestyle answers, the languages you speak, the one you want people to write to you in, and the language you chose to read the app in.
Your location. Your device's coordinates, which the Service needs in order to show you people nearby.
What you do here. Who you liked or passed on, your matches, the messages you send, and reports or blocks you make. If an AI persona blocks you after repeated abusive messages, we keep a record of that too.
Technical data. Basic information your device sends when it connects, such as the app version and general diagnostics. The language you chose for the app is also saved on your device, so it opens in that language before it has connected.
We do not collect vaccination records, medical documents, or any other health record. The one thing we store on this subject is your own statement that you are unvaccinated, which you give when you join.
Why we use it
- To create your account and show your profile to other members.
- To work out distances and show you people within your chosen range.
- To deliver your messages and matches.
- To keep the community safe: investigating reports, blocking abuse, and enforcing the Terms of Service.
- To fix problems and improve the app.
Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on performing our contract with you, on our legitimate interest in running a safe service, and on your consent for your location and for the information you choose to publish on your profile.
What other people see
Other members see your first name, age, photographs, city, approximate distance, and whatever profile details you have filled in.
They never see your email address, your password, your date of birth, or your exact coordinates.
You can hide your distance, age, star sign, and last-active time in Settings, and you can pause your profile so it stops appearing in Discover.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
We use service providers to run the app. Each one receives only what it needs:
- Supabase (European Union) hosts our database, file storage, and authentication. It holds everything described above.
- BigDataCloud (Australia) turns your coordinates into a city name. Your latitude and longitude are sent to it each time you set your location.
- Tenor, operated by Google (United States), returns GIF results. Your search text is sent to it when you use the GIF button.
- OpenAI (United States) and DeepSeek (China) generate the replies of AI personas. When you message a profile marked "AI", your first name and the text of that conversation are sent to one of them to produce the answer. Your email address, date of birth, photographs and location are not. OpenAI also draws the photographs of AI personas; nothing that identifies you is sent for that.
- Photon, run by komoot (Germany), and Open-Meteo are used when we create an AI persona for you. To give the persona a believable home town and time zone we send them a map point chosen at random within your distance limit. If no suitable point can be found, which is rare, your own coordinates are sent instead.
Providers may only process your data on our instructions. Transfers outside the European Economic Area rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision, as applicable.
We disclose data to authorities only where the law obliges us to, or to protect someone from serious harm.
AI personas
Conversations with profiles marked "AI" are sent to OpenAI (United States) or DeepSeek (China) to generate the reply, which means your first name and the text of those messages leave the European Union. Please do not share anything in a conversation with an AI persona that you would not want processed this way, and treat it as you would any message typed into a chatbot. Every AI profile is labelled in the app, and an AI persona will confirm that it is an AI if you ask it directly.
Conversations with real members are never sent to an AI model.
AI personas are made to fit your preferences: the gender you want to meet, your age range, your distance limit, your language, and a star sign that suits yours. An AI persona can block you after repeated abusive messages. That is an automated decision, it deletes the match and the conversation, and it is recorded so that we can review it. You can ask us to review it by writing to support@purematch.app.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account we remove your profile, photographs, matches, and messages. Routine backups are overwritten on a rolling basis, and we keep the minimum needed to meet legal obligations or to stop a banned member returning.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or restrict how we use it, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Most of this you can do yourself in the app; for the rest, write to support@purematch.app and we will respond within one month.
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom you may also complain to your national data protection authority.
Security
Access to your data is enforced at the database level: the rules live in the database itself, not only in the app, so one member cannot read another's private data. Traffic is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects you.
Children
PureMatch is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor is using the Service, report the profile or write to support@purematch.app and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
